Listvyanka village is located on the shore of Lake Baikal 65 km away from Irkutsk city. This village was founded in the18th century and got its name from larch trees growing on the nearest cape. At the end of the 1920s, a Limnologicalstation was founded here; later it became the Limnological Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences. Its museum is already 10 years in existence and is visited annually by over 50,000 people. The exhibits acquaint visitorswith the history of studying and researching Lake Baikal, its fauna and its flora.

Olkhon is the fourth-largest lake-bound island in the world. It is by far the largest island in Lake Baikal in eastern Siberia, with an area of 730 km2 (280 sq mi). The western shore ends with the many bays of the Maloye More. The island is 72 kilometres long and 15 kilometres wide.
Scientists still debate whether 'Olkhon' translates as 'little forest' or 'dry' as both names fit well.
Olkhon has a great combination of landscapes and is rich in archaeological landmarks. Olkhon is the geographical, historical and sacred centre of Lake Baikal. There are many legends and fairy tales about the island; it is believed to be the home of numerous Baikal spirits.

Few natural sights can surpass the beauty and grandeur of the Pearl of Siberia. Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world and holds 20% of the world’s freshwater. It stretches for 636 km longwise and 80 km widthwise. The Baikal’s maximum depth is 1,637 m. It is known as a "laboratory of biodiversity" as it is home to nearly 3,000 species of animals and plants, many of which are found nowhere else, such as a unique breed of freshwater seal.

Located 15 miles (25 kilometres) from the border with China, Khabarovsk stretches along the banks of the Amur River. Khabarovsk was founded as a military post in 1858, but the region had been populated by several indigenous peoples of the Far East for many centuries. It is now a busy city with tree-lined streets.

Vladivostok, a military port located on the western shores of the Sea of Japan, is home to the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet. Due to its military importance, the city was closed to foreigners between 1930 and 1992. Vladivostok (literally translated as ‘Ruler of the East’) offers visitors an interesting opportunity to explore its principal military attractions including a visit to a preserved World War Two submarine.

MOSCOW

Meet Moscow, one of the most vivid, dynamic and richly-historic cities on Earth. After a meeting at the airport (Note: the arrival time should be before 10:00), you will experience the opulence and beauty of Moscow on a tour that covers all the remarkable places, famous Moscow sights and monuments Visit the otherworldly Kremlin and experience the magnificent interiors of its glorious cathedrals. You will see the surreal and candy-cane Russian masterpieces of St. Basil’s Cathedral and Novodevichy Convent. You visit the lovingly reconstructed Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and pass by the notorious former KGB headquarters, the imposing architecture of the Soviet-era White House and Lomonossov University. DAY 2 (17 May/ 30 August)
VLADIMIR & SUZDAL

Depart to Vladimir by train (train 730 departs at 9:30 arrives at 11:30). Unveil the magic of the famous Golden Ring – medieval towns Vladimir and Suzdal – the best places to experience Russian province. We start our exploration by moving to Suzdal to walk on ramparts of its Kremlin and enjoy the onion domes and golden spires. In addition, you learn a lot about Russian history and culture. For the shopaholics and just people in search of extraordinary memorabilia the Suzdal Museum of Wood Craftsmanship open its doors. The huge variety of handcraft souvenirs will astonish you. We will visit Vladimir Observation Platform to get enchanted by the panoramic view of this gem town. From here the whole city is if on your palm. Then through the medieval streets, we reach the Assumption Cathedral; its walls are covered with elaborate carvings, and here we can glimpse at Adrei Rublev’s frescos – the most famous icon-painter in Russia. The next stop is the Golden Gate - the architectural masterpiece of that time. Overnight at “Russkaya Derevnya” hotel. Meals included: breakfast (B), lunch (L)

DAY 3 (18 May/ 31 August)
NIZHNIY NOVGOROD

After breakfast departure to Nizhniy Novgorod (train 702 departs at 8:16, arrives at 10:10). Nizhniy Novgorod sightseeing tour. There are more than 600 unique historic, architectural, and cultural monuments in Nizhny Novgorod. The historic centre of the city, despite significant restructuring, has a significant number of historic civil buildings of the 18th - early 20th centuries, including a lot of monuments of wooden architecture. Nizhny Novgorod cable car is a cable ferry across the Volga River, between Nizhny Novgorod and the town of Bor. The main purpose was to provide an alternative form of passenger transport in addition to the river taxi, electric trains, and buses. Recently, it has become very popular among tourists and you will also experience this cable car trip. KAZAN

Today is dedicated to the picturesque and historic Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, on the banks of the Volga. Tour the city’s traditional Russian architecture and take in the fascinating stories of the local Kremlin, which is a favourite destination of tourists coming to the city. You can buy a lot of different souvenirs and gifts there. You will visit Peter and Paul Cathedral, Kazan Virgin Monastery, unique historical and architectural complexes of Raif monastery and other sights. YEKATERINBURG

Yekaterinburg is the capital of the ancient Ural Mountain range. Its position on the Asian-European border makes for a city of fascinating influences and combined cultures. You visit the painstakingly-preserved city centre and fairy-tale-like Church on Blood, which commemorates the site where the Romanovs, Russia’s last Tsar Dynasty, were shot by revolutionists. NOVOSIBIRSK

Today you will arrive in Siberia’s biggest city in the evening and accommodate at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel “Azumut” (or similar). Meals included: none today

Day 7 (22 May/ 04 September)
NOVOSIBIRSK

Today you will get acquainted with Novosibirsk. During the city tour you`ll visit the historical part of the city and its main sights. The guide will tell you about the history of the city, about its foundation as the future site of the of the Trans-Siberian railway bridge crossing the great Siberian river Ob. You`ll visit Lenin Square, where a very beautiful building of Opera and Ballet Theatre is located. You`ll see the Chapel of Saint Nicolas which marks the centre of Russia, the first brick building of the city – the Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky, wooden buildings and the embankment of Ob river. DAY 8 (23 May/ 05 September)
KRASNOYARSK

Today you`ll receive the brightest impressions of Krasnoyarsk region visiting the Stolby Nature Reserve. This fascinating excursion will take you to the famous Stolby (Pillars) reserve, which is located not far from Krasnoyarsk on the right bank of the Yenisei River. You will travel on a mountainous road through the boundless taiga forest, enjoy fresh and clean air and try crystal cold water from the springs. Also you will take a city tour and get acquainted with the history of Krasnoyarsk. You`ll visit the Peace Square with a beautiful view at Yenisei river, the monument of Andrey Dubensky – Cossack and founder of Krasnoyarsk, the mountain Karaulnaya where from you`ll admire the beautiful view of the city. IRKUTSK

Irkutsk is a large city in Eastern Siberia and the administrative and cultural centre of Irkutsk region. It is situated on the bank of Angara River. Today you will enjoy the city tour. Irkutsk is a historical city with a large number of historically preserved neighbourhoods. It has about 685 historical and cultural monuments, 108 of them are on the federal list of historical preservation. Overnight: Hotel Ibis (or similar). Meals included: L

DAY 10 (25 May/ 07 September)
OLKHON ISLAND (LAKE BAIKAL)

A day dedicated entirely to enjoying the blissful Lake Baikal, the oldest and deepest freshwater lake in the world. The clear, deep, aquamarine and green waters glitter in the sun. The mountains are mirrored in the lake like glass, a near-endless stillness. Today you will take a full day tour by a fast boat to Olkhon Island, the biggest island at the Baikal Lake. During this trip you will enjoy the scenery and picturesque views. Olkhon has a great combination of landscapes and is rich in archaeological landmarks. Overnight: Hotel Ibis (or similar). DAY 11 (26 May/ 08 September)
LISTWYANKA SETTLEMENT (LAKE BAIKAL)

Today, you will get acquainted with the touristic capital of Lake Baikal – Listwyanka settlement. On route to the village you will visit an open-air museum “Taltsy”, where old wooden houses from Irkutsk Region are kept. In Listwyanka you will take some photos at the Chersky Stone view point and learn about the Lake’s flora and fauna at Baikal museum. In the evening departure to Khabarovsk (train 100 departs at 21:14 arrival at 15:53 on day 14) Overnight on board. Meals included: BLD

DAYS 12-13 (27-28 May/ 09-10 September)
ON THE TRAIN

These days you will spend in the train. Each compartment has a table, a mirror, lockable doors, 4 berths (2 upper, 2 lower) and a large panoramic window. Bathrooms are located at each end of the car. Overnight on board. Meals included: none these days

KHABAROVSK

Arrival to Khabarovsk. Transfer to the hotel. Free time after the train. Overnight: Hotel Khabarovsk city (or similar). Meals included: none today

DAY 15 (30 May/ 12 September)
KHABAROVSK

Today you will visit the only rehabilitation centre for wild animals in the Far East, which is located in the Khabarovsk region. Wounded animals are kept in the centre for treatment. As soon as an animal is healthy, it is released in the wild. This centre has at its disposal a big territory, where you can see such animals as tigers, bears, reindeers, lynxes and others. Enjoy Khabarovsk city tour around its historical centre with beautiful streets and major landmarks. You will be brought to the city’s central square – Lenin Square. Besides this you will visit the Ethnography Museum that has more than 350 000 exhibits devoted to the Far East. The guide will tell you the history of the Far East and the way of life in this region from the old days until now. In the evening departure to Khabarovsk (train 006 departs at 20:50 arrival at 08:28 on day 16) Overnight on board. Meals included: BLD

DAY 16 (31 May/ 13 September)
VLADIVOSTOK

Today you will have a full day tour of Vladivostok covering the main attractions and more, including Vladivostok Railway Station and the C-56 submarine as well as passing many historic, cultural and architectural landmarks and viewpoints. After lunch we delve into Vladivostok's military history visiting its Fortress including two of the old batteries which now serve as museums. We also visit the Voroshilovskaya Battery located inside a real military base on Russky Island. This 80 year old building is a fantastic example of military architecture with its rational organization and efficient functioning. We also see the Pacific Navy warships stationed in the heart of the city which demonstrate the continuing importance of this port to Russia.
