The Tolbachik massif is composed of two overlapping, but morphologically dissimilar volcanoes - Ostry Tolbachik and Plosky Tolbachik, two of the highest in Kamchatka. The awe-inspiring view of the formation is guaranteed to take your breath away.

Kozyrevsk settlement, located on the shores of the Kamchatka River where you can take a walk to one of the oldest villages in Kamchatka and stock up on souvenirs in the local shop. A visit to the viewing platform will give you breathtaking panoramic views of the settlement, Kamchatka river and, of course, volcanoes. It's a treat to stay over in a log cabin and relax in a classic Russian banya.
Day 1

Welcome to the Russian Far East! Upon arrival you are transferred to your hotel to meet your guide and discuss your upcoming adventure. (D)

Day 2

Start the day with a boat cruise in Avacha Bay to see the nesting places of a variety of seabirds at Babushkin Kamen (Grandmother’s Rock) and Starichkov Island in the open Pacific Ocean. Take the chance to do some sea fishing and indulge in some fresh fish soup for lunch before returning to dry land. In the afternoon you are transferred to the Mutnovsky volcano where the group will walk to a beautiful waterfall to set up camp for the evening. (B, L, D)

Day 3

Take in the awe-inspiring scenery as you ascend to the crater of the Mutnovsky volcano. Here you can see active boiling fumaroles, mud siphons and steep slopes made of gleaming glacier. Enjoy another night at the camp. (B, L, D)

Day 4

Today, climb the Gorely volcano, hiking past flowing lava and cinder fields until you reach craters which house volcanic lakes. In the evening, relax with a swim in thermal pools. (B, L, D)

Day 5

Enjoy a day of relaxation in Paratunka or take an optional excursion by helicopter to Valley of the Geysers (payable locally). The valley is hidden in one of the deep canyons in the Kronotsky Reserve and cannot be compared with anything else in the world! There are over 20 geysers many of which gush fountains of boiling water and steam every few minutes. The combination of lush green grass, trees and steam creates an enchanting wonderland. In the

Day 6

Today, travel onwards to the Kluchevskaya volcanoes with a lunch stop in a local restaurant en route (payable locally). Cross the Kamchatka River before driving to the foot of the spectacular Polsky and Ostry Tolbachik formation. In good weather, this location provides amazing panoramic views of Kamchatka’s highest volcanoes. Enjoy a relaxing evening sleeping under the stars. (B, L, D)

Day 7

Discover the legacy of the 2013 volcanic eruption in Kleuchevskaya where fresh lava flows. You can also see natural stone sculptures from where the lava has hardened. Afterwards, head back to camp for a night of relaxation. (B, L, D)

Day 8

Travel onwards to the Northern Breakthrough to climb the Tolbachik cones which resemble miniature volcanoes standing at 100-200 metres tall. From here, move on to the Southern Breakthrough to walk across the “dead wood” area of slag and ash from an eruption in 1975. (B, L, D)

Day 9

Today transfer to Esso for a walking tour of the Kozyrevsk settlement. Stock up on souvenirs at the local craft workshop before visiting the viewing platform for some amazing panoramic views of the area. (B, L, D)

Day 10

Your adventure is drawing to a close. Travel back to Petropavlovsk stopping for lunch in Milkogo en route (payable locally) and a visit to the Ethnography Museum. Enjoy an evening of relaxation in a hotel. (B, D)

Day 11

Visit the local fish market and take the chance to go shopping and pick up some final souvenirs before transferring to the airport. (B)
